Thousand Oaks Could OK Recreational Pot Sales This Week
The Thousand Oaks City Council will vote this Tuesday on a proposal to allow its two medical cannabis dispensaries to engage in recreational sales. The plan was endorsed 4-0 by the city’s Planning Commission on June 13.
In April, the council directed the city attorney to draft new language that strikes the “medical-only” provision from the law. Councilmembers Ed Jones and Kevin McNamee voted against that proposal.
The city’s licensed medical marijuana dispensaries have advised leaders that they cannot continue to operate on a medical-only basis and will go out of business if they don’t get the green light for sales to anyone 21 years or older.
